If Life Was a Musical

I don't write poetry, so bear with me and be nice...

If life was a musical,
Would I sing along?
Raise my voice and sing aloud
An undaunted song?

If life was a musical,
Would my songs be sad?
Or reflect the happy times
That made me feel glad?

If life was a musical,
What songs would I sing?
Songs with minor, mournful tunes,
Or with joyful ring?

If life was a musical,
Would I sing of God?
Or focus on the trifles
Like riches or pomade?

If life was a musical,
I would sing along:
A noisy and joyful sound
Turned into a song

I would sing songs of friendship,
Songs of tales abroad,
Of joys and hurts and healings;
I would sing of God.

  1. A few of the stanzas seem to repeat the same basic thing, but I like the resolution. Funny, I think you should sing this!

  2. Want me to write music for this? I can try...

  3. Thought about it again, and I think your mood isn't very stable. It keeps swinging from silly to spiritual and I don't think it really works.
But the idea is cool. You should look into transitions if you want to keep the basic layout of this poem.

  4. I would say that I know exactly what to fix, what doesn't fit the mood, and that I can fix it right away... except I can't write poetry... so... you may have to be more specific. I can see how some of them are lighter in feel, but I don't see the silliness.
